It’s been more than 100 years since the Philadelphia Quakers changed their name to the Philadelphia Philadelphians, which was thankfully shortened to “Phillies” very quickly. We take a look at quintessential films shot or taking place in the City of Brotherly Love as the Phillies stand one game away from the pennant.

What kind of uber loyal fanbase has one of the players on the team call them frontrunners? Just wondering
October 29, 2008
Did you eve listen to the rest of that Rollins’ interview to understand what he meant by frontrunner?
October 29, 2008
I’m a Cubs fan, but damned if I can’t appreciate ANOTHER ball club with an uber-loyal following despite a very questionable record.fixed.

It almost crow eating time for me…For years I’ve been busting my friends balls about supporting a losing franchise like the Phils. I kept saying, the Eagles are going to win, or the Flyers, then the Sixers, and maybe in a decade the Phillies may eventually get a championship. I was sure the Eagles would be the next championship team here. The Phils are the losing-est team in sports history, with over 10,000 losses. The fans of this team deserve a championship for supporting them through so many god awful seasons.

I forgot Mannequin was made in Philly. Haha.
October 29, 2008
I completely forgot that 12 Monkeys had anything to do with Philly…

The list is decent, but it is missing the great Travolta film “Blow Out”. Also, “National Treasure” is a reach, as it is not really set in Philadelphia.
October 29, 2008
Come again?I’m a Philly expat living in Raleigh. Quite a nice chunk of the film was absolutely set in Philadelphia.
October 29, 2008
Phillies suck, bitches gonna loseit’ll happenMORE improbable ***** has happened!like Sarah Palin
October 29, 2008
No Blow Out? You can’t beat John Travolta racing through City Hall and the Mummers Parade in a Jeep!

October 29, 2008
so… can anyone think of any Tampa Bay movies.
October 29, 2008
The Phillies won the pennant by winning the NLCS. Buried as inaccurate for an epic playoff baseball FAIL. Plus you made me think of Tom Hanks and AIDS… I hate you.

Someone please post a Top Ten Tampa Films: An Homage to the Rays to counteract this offensive post. I’d do so, but I’m in Korea now. I’ll be at Game 6 and 7 in Tampa Bay though. Let’s go Rays!!!
October 29, 2008
Ha ha, “Game 6 and 7″. Come on, digg him up, it was funny! I hope your plane tickets are refundable.
October 29, 2008
Dugg for my hometown. I have such a love-hate relationship with Philly. I mean, seriously, anyone who has spent much time there can tell you what a dirty filthy ***** of a town Philly is, and how unbelievably crooked the politicians and police are there. Yet there is also much to love about Philly.I love living in Raleigh, don’t get me wrong, but this town is just soooo bland and lacking the sort of depth that oozed out of every Philly neighborhood.
October 29, 2008
I saw “Paedophilia” in the title.
October 29, 2008
The title of this should be “top 10 fictional stories involving Philadelphia.”You know, when you have to resort to fiction to say good things about a city, it might be because it’s a ***** place with no real worth.***** Philly.
October 29, 2008
only like 5 minutes of Dawn of the Dead was filmed in Philly… Ill be damned if they are gonna steal Pittsburgh’s thunder
October 29, 2008
Ask “Phidadelphia”
October 29, 2008
I would have liked to see The Woodsmen on that list. Part of it was filmed around Wissinoming Park in lower Mayfar. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Woodsman
